How to Convert Voice to Text

1. 1Choose your language. Pick the language and accent you will speak, such as English (US), English (UK), Spanish or French.
2. 2Start dictation. Press Start dictation and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
3. 3Speak naturally. Talk at a normal pace. Say “comma”, “period” or “new paragraph” to add punctuation, and pause whenever you like; listening carries on until you press Stop.
4. 4Edit as you go. Click anywhere in the note to fix a word or type. New words are inserted where the cursor is.
5. 5Save your notes. Copy the text, download it as a Word, TXT or Markdown file, or save it to the list of notes on this device.

Voice Typing with Punctuation Commands

Speech recognition writes down words, not punctuation. Say the punctuation you want and the notepad turns it into the mark itself, so “see you Monday comma thanks period” becomes “See you Monday, thanks.” New sentences start with a capital letter automatically.

In other languages, use the punctuation buttons above the note. If you need the word itself (“the trial period”), turn voice commands off in Options.

• Pick the exact accent you speak: English (UK) understands British spelling and pronunciation better than English (US).
• Speak in full phrases at a steady pace rather than word by word.
• Use a headset or keep the microphone close, and avoid background music or TV.
• Dictate first and correct afterwards; stopping to fix every word breaks your flow.
• Keep the screen on when dictating on a phone, as the microphone stops when it locks.
